Steine im Lager (Stones in storage) 2013
Stones in storage is a series of collages created as part of the research project Präparat Bergsturz (Preparation Rockslide) at the Bern University of the Arts. The 31 works on paper were created in a single batch during a short time, produced primarily on a photocopier with an open lid.
For the publication Präparat Bergsturz [Dissecting a Rockslide], vol. 2, Schirin Kretschmann, Florian Dombois and I developed a picture series in which scissors, stone and paper each played a differing role. In the introduction to this piece we wrote: “With Schere Stein Papier – Der Bergsturz als Spiel [Rock Paper Scissors – The Rockslide as a Game] we present […] an attempt to make a work on dissection, from the empirical artistic and scientific dissection of the Flims rockslide, without taking the rockslide or dissection itself into account. In doing so, scissors, stone, and paper represent an arrangement in which each object is able to justify the others. Their encounter is decisive. […] Even if one can make out three visual styles, the individual sequences in the book were broken up and placed in a common picture spread, not just in accordance with the ideal of the dissector, who withdrew from the object, but also inspired by the fortunate experiences of working collectively.”

The pictures, of which a part was used for this joint chapter, are as a whole an independent series.
